ABOUT YUVENDRAN RAJASEGARAN

More Than a Businessman

Yuvendran Rajasegaran is a Malaysian businessman, entrepreneur and consultant whose professional journey has been shaped by family, discipline, entrepreneurship and years of practical experience.

Born on 22 January 1990 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Yuvendran spent his childhood in different parts of the country. His early years included time with his grandparents before he later lived with his family in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. At around 12 years old, he moved to Paka, Terengganu, where he continued his secondary education.

Growing up in different environments exposed him to different communities, people and ways of life from an early age. These experiences contributed to his ability to adapt to new situations and communicate with people from different backgrounds — qualities that would later become important throughout his professional career.

Early Life & Character

Learning Independence From a Young Age

Yuvendran’s early life was shaped by circumstances that encouraged him to become independent and responsible at a relatively young age.

Rather than growing up with a predetermined path into business, he gradually developed his interest through observation and experience. He understood from an early stage that financial stability required hard work, discipline and the willingness to take responsibility.

These lessons became particularly important as he began thinking about his own future and career. His early experiences also helped shape an attitude that remains central to his personality today:

Do not simply wait for opportunities. Learn, adapt and create them.

Education

From an Aspiring Pilot to Mechanical Engineering

Like many young people, Yuvendran had an ambition for his future.

His original dream was to become a pilot.

However, professional pilot training required a significant financial investment, and pursuing that path was not realistically affordable for his family at the time. Rather than allowing that setback to stop him from pursuing higher education, Yuvendran made a practical decision.

He enrolled in Mechanical Engineering at Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin in Dungun, Terengganu.

His choice reflected an important characteristic that would continue throughout his life — the ability to adapt when circumstances change.

Although engineering did not eventually become his professional career, his education provided him with valuable foundations in analytical thinking, technical problem-solving, discipline and structured decision-making.

These skills would later become useful in business, where many challenges require the ability to break complex problems into manageable parts and find practical solutions. Yuvendran completed his studies at approximately 20 years old.

Leadership Begins Early

Kadet Polis & Developing Discipline

During his school years at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Paka (SMK Paka), Yuvendran was actively involved in Kadet Polis.

His involvement provided him with opportunities to develop discipline, teamwork and leadership skills.

At approximately 17 years old, he participated at the state level in a leadership capacity, gaining experience in working with others and taking responsibility within an organised environment.

These experiences may have been relatively early in his life, but they helped establish qualities that would later become important in his professional journey.

Leadership, for Yuvendran, was not something that appeared suddenly when he became a CEO.

It was gradually developed through experiences that required discipline, communication and responsibility.

His First Exposure to Business

Learning From His Father

While education provided Yuvendran with formal knowledge, his most influential business education began outside the classroom.

At approximately 16 years old, he began accompanying his father, the late Rajasegaran Perumal Pillai, to business meetings, client discussions and visits involving government departments.

These included matters connected with organisations such as Immigration and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

At that age, Yuvendran was not yet running the business.

He was learning.

He observed how his father communicated with clients, listened to their problems, handled documentation and dealt with government-related procedures.

He saw that business was not simply about selling a service.

It involved understanding people, managing expectations, solving problems and accepting responsibility when circumstances became difficult.

Watching, Listening & Learning

Yuvendran’s early exposure to his father’s business was largely practical. There was no formal classroom where he was taught how to deal with clients.

Instead, he learned by being present.
He watched how conversations were conducted.

He listened to the concerns of employers.

He observed how documentation was handled.

He saw how difficult situations were approached.

And, most importantly, he learned that trust could take years to build but only moments to lose.

This experience gave him an understanding of business that was grounded in reality.

Years later, those early observations would become the foundation for his own approach to consultancy and leadership.

His Father's Influence

A Mentor, Teacher & Business Partner

Yuvendran has often regarded his father as much more than a parent.

His father was one of his earliest business mentors, introducing him to the realities of entrepreneurship and professional relationships.

The broader Karisma business journey traces its roots back to 1996, giving Yuvendran the opportunity to observe the development of a business over many years.

He witnessed both the successes and challenges that came with entrepreneurship.

There were periods of growth and opportunity, but there were also difficult situations, financial pressures and business challenges.

This gave Yuvendran a realistic understanding of entrepreneurship.

He learned that building a business is not always about rapid growth.

Sometimes it is about surviving difficult periods, maintaining relationships, solving problems and continuing forward.

His First Business

Becoming an Entrepreneur Himself

While his father’s business provided his first exposure to entrepreneurship, Yuvendran eventually wanted to experience business independently.

At approximately 18 years old, while still pursuing his education, he started a small mobile-phone business.

This became an important milestone.

For the first time, he was responsible for his own customers, sales and business decisions.

The experience taught him practical lessons that cannot easily be learned through textbooks.

He learned about:

  • Customer service
  • Sales
  • Negotiation
  • Cash flow
  • Pricing
  • Customer expectations
  • Business risk
  • Personal financial responsibility

During stronger periods of the business, he recalls earning approximately RM4,000 per month, which was significant for a young entrepreneur at that stage of his life. More importantly, the experience gave him confidence.

It demonstrated that he could create an income through his own initiative and effort.

Entering the Family Business

From Observer to Participant

As Yuvendran grew older, his involvement in the family business naturally increased.

What began as accompanying his father gradually developed into active participation.

He started interacting directly with clients and learning more about applications, documentation, workforce requirements and government procedures.

The transition was gradual.

He moved from simply observing conversations to becoming part of them.

From listening to client problems to helping find solutions.

From learning about documentation to understanding why each requirement mattered.

From watching his father make decisions to eventually making decisions himself.

This period became an important bridge between his early exposure to business and his eventual leadership role.

A Moment That Changed His Responsibility

When His Father Became Ill

One of the moments that accelerated Yuvendran’s development came when his father suffered a heart attack.

The situation required Yuvendran to step forward and take on greater responsibility.

He had to communicate with clients, understand ongoing matters and help ensure that business operations continued.

For someone who had spent years learning by observing his father, this became an opportunity to put that knowledge into practice.

It was a difficult transition, but it taught him an important lesson:

Sometimes leadership begins before you feel ready for it.

Yuvendran had to make decisions, communicate confidently and deal with problems without always having his father beside him.

That experience prepared him for an even greater responsibility that would come years later.

2021 — The Defining Chapter

Losing His Father

On 30 July 2021, Yuvendran’s father passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was a profound personal loss.

But it also created an immediate professional reality.

Yuvendran was no longer learning alongside his mentor.

He was now responsible for carrying forward what his father had built.

The timing made the situation even more difficult.

The COVID-19 pandemic had created significant disruption for businesses involved in international workforce activities. Border restrictions, changes in movement and evolving government requirements placed considerable pressure on employers and businesses across the industry.

At the same time, Yuvendran had to manage responsibilities involving the family, business operations and existing financial commitments.

Choosing to Rebuild

Turning a Difficult Chapter Into a New Beginning

Following his father’s passing, Yuvendran faced a decision that would define the next chapter of his career.

He could step away from the business.

Or he could take responsibility and rebuild it.

He chose the latter.

The rebuilding process was not immediate or easy.

It required him to reassess operations, manage financial pressures, strengthen internal processes and rebuild confidence among clients and partners.

Financial restructuring and responsible financial management became part of this period as he worked to stabilise the situation.

Rather than seeing the difficulties as the end of the family business, Yuvendran treated them as a challenge that needed to be solved.

This period strengthened one of the principles that continues to influence his leadership:

Difficult circumstances do not define the future. The response to them does.

From Family Business to Professional Organisation

Building Beyond One Person

One of Yuvendran’s major objectives following 2021 was to develop the organisation beyond a business that depended heavily on individuals.

He recognised that long-term sustainability requires systems.

It requires trained people.

It requires clear responsibilities.

It requires communication between departments.

And it requires processes that allow a business to continue operating even when one individual is unavailable.

Under his leadership, efforts were focused on strengthening the organisational structure, expanding the team, improving client communication and developing a broader network of partners.

The objective was not simply to become bigger.

It was to become better organised, more professional and more sustainable.

Transparency & Compliance

No False Promises

One of the principles Yuvendran strongly emphasises is transparency.

Workforce-related applications can involve various requirements, procedures and decisions by Malaysian authorities.

Consultants can guide businesses, assist with documentation and help them understand applicable processes.

However, government approvals, quotas, eligibility decisions and immigration matters ultimately remain subject to the relevant authorities and prevailing policies.

Yuvendran believes a responsible consultant should therefore never create unrealistic expectations simply to secure a client.

Professional advice means being honest about what can be controlled — and what cannot.

This approach has become an important part of his professional philosophy.

Beyond Business

Family, Relationships & Life

While business has played a major role in Yuvendran’s life, he also places importance on family and personal relationships.

Yuvendran is married to Gayathiri Selvaraju, with the couple marrying on 1 February 2024.

Family support has been particularly meaningful throughout the demanding periods of his professional journey.

Outside business, he enjoys travelling, food and spending meaningful time with family.

For Yuvendran, personal success is not defined solely by revenue, company size or professional recognition.

It also involves being able to support the people around him and creating something meaningful for the future.

Giving Back

Success With a Sense of Responsibility

Yuvendran’s commitment to responsibility extends beyond business.

He has been involved in charitable and community assistance, including support for individuals facing medical expenses, students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, orphanages and families requiring essential assistance.

He generally prefers such contributions to remain private rather than treating them primarily as publicity.

His approach to giving is also influenced by his belief in sustainable opportunity.

Where possible, he prefers helping people develop the ability to support themselves through employment, skills and meaningful opportunities.

THE STORY CONTINUES

From a Son Learning Beside His Father to a Leader Building His Own Legacy.

Yuvendran Rajasegaran’s journey is still being written.

The lessons of the past continue to guide him, but his focus remains firmly on the future — building people, strengthening systems, creating opportunities and developing an organisation that can stand for generations.

Learn from the past.
Build for today.
Create for tomorrow.
